At the Nexus of Science–Industry–Policy, Dr. Hong Xu has been bridging multidisciplinary expertise to advance the clean energy transition over the last decade, striving for energy efficiency and carbon neutrality. He earned a PhD in Renewable Energy at ETH Zurich and a Joint MSc in Materials Science from University of Munich (LMU) and Technical University of Munich (TUM) supported by an Erasmus Scholarship. He cultivated research skills at the Swiss Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), European XFEL, and Polytechnic Institute of Paris (IPP), developing pioneering solutions in materials and energy sectors. By orchestrating a series of 48h non-stop research campaigns, he achieved PSI-endorsed scientific highlights, along with papers published, delivered ECS invited talks in Atlanta, and fostered Next-Gen education through ETH master tutorials and TUM mentorship.

A true scholar, Dr. Xu earned his PhD in Renewable Energy at ETH Zurich, working with the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland. Before that, he got an MSc in Materials Science from the Technical University of Munich, where he also interned at the European XFEL and Infineon in Germany.
